Free AI Logo Generator Test: 8 of 10 Sites Showed Logos Without Sign-Up (2026)

A free AI logo generator will gladly show you a logo. Getting the actual file is where “free” starts to mean different things. To see how far free really goes, I tried the same made-up business, Butterlark Bakery, at 10 sites on November 7, 2026.

Eight showed me logos with no account. Only three of them say you can get a file without paying: VistaPrint, LOGO.com and Design.com. All three ask for a sign-in or an email first. The other five charge for the file. I stopped at every sign-up screen and downloaded nothing, so the file details below are what each site says, not what I received.

How I ran this free AI logo generator test

Where a site asked for an industry I entered bakery (logomakerr.ai had no bakery option, so I chose Restaurant), and where it asked for a description I wrote a short one. I skipped some optional questions, so a site could do better if you fill in everything. Adobe Express also ranks high for this search, but my test browser is signed in to Adobe, so I couldn’t see what a new visitor gets.

I looked for four things: logos without an account, a watermark on the results, whether the name stayed intact, and what the file costs. Each free AI logo generator got one run, so I am not ranking design quality, and your counts may differ. I also tested from Korea: Wix sent me to its Korean page, and Logomaster opened in Korean won until I switched it to dollars.

VistaPrint: the closest thing to a free file

VistaPrint’s AI Logomaker asks you to describe the logo you want. I wrote “A warm loaf of bread with a small bird, in soft brown and cream,” and all four results had a loaf and a bird.

All four VistaPrint results followed my description, and the button promises free SVG, PNG and PDF files

No watermark appeared on the previews, and the button reads “Download SVG, PNG, PDF files for free.” SVG is a vector format, meaning you can enlarge it without blur, and other sites here charge for that. The catch comes when you click it: a sign-in page opens, so an account is needed after all. The page also says you start with 4 generations and an account unlocks 60 more. A $30 designer refinement is offered beside the button, but it is optional.

Design.com: the most bakery-themed set from a plain prompt

Design.com took one sentence and filled the screen with 18 logos, no account needed and no watermark visible. Most showed baking pictures such as baskets, loaves and whisks, which made this the most bakery-themed set I got from a plain prompt.

Look at the corner tags, though. Only one of those 18 carried a FREE tag. The site says its free AI logo templates include high-resolution and vector files, but clicking a logo opened a box asking for my email “to edit and download,” so I stopped. Its /pricing address returned a 404 page, so I could not confirm whether the untagged logos cost anything.

LOGO.com and Looka: lots of options, different file rules

LOGO.com asks a few questions, then shows a sign-up box with a small “Skip this step” link underneath. That link opened more than 27 logos with no watermark. Some pictures had little to do with a bakery, including a megaphone. A banner pitched $1 a month, and “Get logo” led to a sign-up box with no skip link.

Its plans page lists a Free tier at $0, “Never billed,” with one saved logo and 4 high-res files. Vector files start with the paid Brand Plan at $15 a month.

Looka also let me continue as a guest and even opened its editor without an account. The results leaned on abstract symbols, with no bread anywhere on my screen, though you can pick symbol types if you do not skip that step as I did. The pricing page has no free file: one low-res PNG costs $35, and the $72 package adds high-res files, including SVG.

Brandmark: read the small labels

Brandmark needed only a name, a keyword and a color style. I scrolled through 16 results with no sign-up prompt and no watermark. Each one has a corner label, and 12 of my 16 said non-AI, with three marked AI Icon and one AI Gen. If you came for AI artwork, those labels are the site’s own way of sorting them, though I did not look up how it defines them. The one AI Gen result had two birds around the name, a nice nod to “lark.”

Brandmark tags each result. Several designs also ran the two words together as ButterlarkBakery.

The basic package is $35 once, with PNG and vector files and no monthly charge. That is the cheapest one-time price for a vector file I could confirm.

logomakerr.ai, SologoAI and Logomaster: free to look, paid to keep

These three put a watermark over the previews, so the free part is really a preview. logomakerr.ai gave me 12 or more options, with triangles and a bar chart rather than bread, though my Restaurant pick may have played a part. Two made BAKERY the big word and shrank my actual name. Its $29 package lists 800 x 600 pixels with no vector file. High-res and vector files start at $59.

SologoAI showed four logos and added “EST 2023” to one, a founding year I never typed. Another put a blue diamond beside the name. Clicking a logo brought up a free trial sign-up box, and the pricing table shows no downloads on the free tier. Paid access starts at $7.90 a month billed yearly.

Logomaster has you pick three sample logos and a color first. With the slogan left blank, “slogan here” stayed in the results. Its pricing page starts at $23 once, but vector files begin at $57, and the $23 package does not allow changes after purchase.

Wix and Canva stopped me before any logo

Wix went straight to a sign-up page from its start button. Canva opened a terms-of-use box that needed my agreement, and I did not agree on a test run. That says nothing about the quality of either tool, only that I can’t tell you what comes out.

A free AI logo generator can also turn into a subscription. Brandmark, Looka, logomakerr.ai and Logomaster sell one-time packages, while LOGO.com and SologoAI bill monthly or yearly. SologoAI’s $7.90 rate comes to about $95 up front, and it also sells one-off exclusive logos from $49. If you only want one logo, check whether your files stay usable after you cancel.

Check these before you use a free AI logo generator result

  • Read every word. EST 2023, SINCE 2026 and EST 2026 appeared on logos at three sites without my asking. One LOGO.com design even ended in “SINCE 2026년,” with a stray Korean character, possibly because my browser is set to Korean.
  • Check the spelling and spacing of your name, including the version in the final download screen. Several results glued the two words together.
  • Look for a transparent background. If you only get a white one, one of these free background removers can help.
  • Do not assume the logo is exclusive or safe to trademark. Canva warns that you “may not have exclusive rights,” and SologoAI says its license “does not establish legal availability.”

If the name matters to your business, search the USPTO trademark database or your country’s equivalent, and talk to a trademark attorney before filing. I ran a similar test with a Korean business name, and that Korean version covers how well these tools handle Hangul.

Which free AI logo generator should you try first?

If you want a free vector file and can accept signing in, start with VistaPrint, because it states that clearly and followed my description closely. For a free PNG, look at LOGO.com’s free plan. For browsing bakery-style ideas, Design.com gave me the most bakery-themed set from a plain prompt, but check for the FREE tag before you get attached to one.

Treat all of this as a snapshot from one run with one invented bakery. I never saw a downloaded file, so inspect yours before printing it on anything.
